The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law is proud to host the 2012 Rocky Mountain Regional Legal Writing Conference.  We welcome legal writing scholars from across the United States to attend and share their experience and expertise for a weekend filled with the 3 R’s—Research, ‘Ritin’, and Relaxation!  The conference begins on the afternoon of Friday, March 23 and will end on Mar. 24.  ASU is also excited to announce that we will be hosting a scholar’s workshop on Sunday, March 25.  Details regarding the scholar’s workshop will follow.

We invite you to come early and stay late to enjoy the beautiful Arizona spring weather.  We will be providing information for those interested in activities like a spring training baseball game, hiking, spa visits, golf, and more.  Details for how to add some relaxation to your conference plans will be coming soon!

Our plenary speaker is Linda Berger, Professor of Law at the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.  Linda Berger is one of the nation’s leading figures in legal writing; she has taught at the University of San Diego School of Law, Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and Mercer University School of Law. She was a founder and longtime editor of the Journal of the Association of Legal Writing Directors; she currently is an editor of the LSN-SSRN eJournal, Law & Rhetoric Abstracts. Her recent scholarly work has emphasized the ways in which rhetorical analysis guides the interpretation and composition of legal arguments.

Information about additional speakers and a conference schedule will be posted in early 2012.
