American Indian Tribal and Traditional Leaders, Elders and Practitioners, Cultural Rights Advocates and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers convene a Native American Cultural Rights Roundtable to discuss needed improvements to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act and strategies to achieve:
- Return of Property of the Ancestors: needed changes to final rule on culturally “unidentifiable” human remains and funerary objects
- Amendments to NAGPRA, including to the Definition of Native American and to the Enforcement Provisions
- Compliance with NAGPRA and Other Laws by Federal and Federally-Assisted Agencies, Museums and Educational Institutions
- Protection of Native American Sacred Places, including Ancestors and Burial Grounds
